Halloween in New Orleans
Chrissy and I went to NO for Halloween again this year.  This was my 10th Halloween in NO!

I started going to NO when I lived in Atlanta, 96-00, and continued going when I moved to Houston and even after we moved to CO.

The primary reason used to be there Halloween night and to watch all the "interesting" people.  This is the BEST time to goto NO.  It's not too hot and not too cold.  This weekend the lows were in the mid 50s and highs in the 70s.  Now my reason has switched to be there for Voodoo Fest, 3 day music festival and to goto the Anne Rice fan club ball.  This year was my 5th or 6th ball I have been too.

The head liners this year were Smashing Pumpkins, Rage Against the Machine, Wilco, and Black Crows.  But other great bands were Ben Harper, Sinead O'Connor, Paolo Nutini, and many others.  Here's the line-up.

This year both Rage and the Anne Rice ball were at the same time, so I didn't get to see Rage.  I went to the ball instead, here are a few pics. (More to come once I get them from other people).

We spent most of the weekend with Rich & Rita, our new great friends who we met last year at the ball.  We had just gone to Cleveland to seen them and the band Gov't Mule.  (Blog post on that weekend).  We had another GREAT time with them.  I wish they live in CO so we could hang out more often.

I was a pretty disappointed in the sound at the Voodoo stage, where Smashing Pumpkins, Black Crows, and other played.  The sound was so bad during Black Crows that we left early into their set.  The bass and sound was VERY distorted.

We also went to check out the Lower 9th Ward, pictures.  This area was pretty much wiped out when the Industrial Canal broken from the higher water from Katerina.  Why go there you might ask?  Well because most people in the country have forgotten about this area.  As you can see from the pictures most homes were completely wiped out, the debris has since been cleared.  In an area covering a few square miles only a few houses are being worked on and fewer have people living in them, those that do have been rebuilt\replaced.

Anyways, that's it for now.  Got to get back to work
